Dr. Kate Brechun

Scientist Transgenics and Strain modification

Dr. Brechun completed her PhD at the University of Toronto in Canada as a collaborative degree with the University of Potsdam in Germany. During her PhD research, she performed protein engineering to develop optogenetic protein tools, and developed genetic circuits in E. coli to analyze switchable protein activity in vivo. Following her PhD, she worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Potsdam, where she performed DNA engineering for a metabolic engineering project in yeast.
In 2021, Dr. Brechun joined Gen-H Genetic Engineering GmbH. As part of the Gen-H team, she works on prokaryotic strain engineering and BAC modification projects.
